Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic

Florida State Certified.

Although you can apply without being Florida State Certified, the requirement prior to employement is to be Florida State Certified as well as having an acceptable driving record and past criminal history, pass a drug screen and medical examination; back ground reference checks; and water safety assessment. Our hiring assessment consists of a practical test and interview board.  Candidate must meet all pre-employment requirements.  The District will notify each candidate regarding the testing date and other pertinent information.

Minimum Requirements & Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, as recognized by the State of Florida, Department of Education
  • Be age 18 or older at time of application
  • Possess & maintain a valid  Driver’s License
  • Current State of Florida Firefighter II Certificate of Compliance
  • Current State of Florida EMT (or) Paramedic License
  • Current CPR Certification

Other Employment Requirements:

  • Probationary Period
    – 1 year to successfully complete orientation and probationary performance requirements as directed by the District

Wages

  • $26.79 / hour FF/ EMT Base Wage
  • $33.65 / hour FF/Medic Base Wage
